The number of champions available in a game of TFT is not infinite. We will therefore have to adapt accordingly.
Following the update of Teamfight Tactics July 1, Riot Games has published interesting information that we did not know until now: the number of copies available for each champion. It involves many things in terms of probability, team building and strategy.
The number of champions in a game:
Champions of Tier 1 exist in 39 products in a part.
Champions of Tier 2 exist in 26 products in a part.
Champions of Tier 3 exist in 21 products in a part.
Champions of Tier 4 exist in 13 products in a part.
Champions of Tier 5 exist in 10 products in a part.
What we can deduce:
First of all, since the number of copies of a champion is limited, it means that you will have more chance to raise to 3 stars a champion who is not very popular in the game.
It's also easier to get a 3-star champion early in the game, before others buy the copies you want.
Since it takes 9 copies of a champion to make him wait for 3 stars, it is almost impossible for two people to have the same tier 3 champion at 3 stars. It is absolutely impossible for two people to have a 4-star Tier 5 or Tier 3 champion. If you're hoping to boost a Kayle, look at other players' boards and make sure no one has the same goal as you.
In the same way you can use this information to your advantage. If you find that an opponent's composition is partly based on a Tier 4 or Tier 5 champion, you can buy a copy or two of that champion to ensure that the opponent cannot obtain them and solidify their team.
Finally, if an opponent has copies of a champion that you absolutely want, you will have to eliminate him or push him to sell them.
