Dofus: Guide, Tips and Advice on Professions

Gotta work hard!

Dofus has a multitude of professions and it is not necessarily easy to find your way around. This guide will help you choose which trades to mount, and why.

In Dofus, there is 18 jobs, which can be divided into 3 categories :
- Harvesting professions, which are Farmer, Lumberjack, Fisherman, Miner, Alchemist and Hunter*.
- The craft trades, which are Tailor, Jeweler, Shoemaker, Blacksmith, Sculptor, Handyman and Shaper.
- Smithmagic professions, which will allow you to modify the rolls of your objects. We find there, the Smithmagus, the Sculptemage, the Cordomage, the Joillomage and the Costumage, respectively to modify the objects of the Blacksmiths, Sculptors, Shoemakers, Jewelers and Tailors.

*Note that for the profession of hunter, your weapon must be a "hunting weapon". You can add a rune to a weapon to transform it into a hunting weapon, by smithmagic.

I. Which first job(s) to set up?

Since the update 2.29, there is no longer a limitation of professions per character. Which means you can do all the jobs in the game, without any limitations. Additionally, the level of professions has been increased from 100 to 200 to better match the crafting level of items.

In addition, with this update, harvesting professions have received an overhaul of their recipe and an implementation of new resources.

These "new" harvesting professions have become extremely interesting from an economic point of view. Indeed, the recipes you will make with these professions are very sought after for the most part and sell for quite a lot.
However, to set up a trade (eg farmer) you will need preparations and/or resources from other harvesting trades.

The sandwich bread prepared by the peasants requires sage, a plant harvested by the alchemists.

The easiest trades to set up, and the most profitable are: Peasant et Alchemist.

Minor et woodcutter are profitable trades, but take a long time to set up, in particular because of the bots. (Much less present than before it is true). The professions of Sinner et Hunter are an alternative to the Farmer profession, but the recipes are less sought after (and therefore sell more slowly).

I advise you to set up 3 harvesting professions first: Peasant, Alchemist et woodcutter. These three trades complement each other very well and are profitable very quickly. In addition, the professions of peasant and alchemist are not long to level (one week to level the two 150+).

The business of peasant, to make pain, here east there main source of health regeneration in Dofus. The recipes are easily made in large quantities and sell very very well. A very good source of kamas.

Le alchemist's craft, firstly because it pairs very well with the profession of peasant and lumberjack (alchemist recipes often require cereal or wood), and secondly, because it is the profession of potions. Potion of teleportation (Recall, cities, temple, ...), of Perceptor, Essence of Dungeon Guardian, Potion of improvement of pet, Potion of care and many other things still, it is for me the job which allows the more thing. Teleport Potions are selling very well and, since Update 2.29, very expensive.

Finally, the lumberjack job, because the substrates you can make will be sought after, as they are useful in idols and trophies, two of the best-selling things in Dofus.

At level 140 of the three professions, you will get a extremely profitable combination. The potions of the ancestors (Alchemist) and the substrates of the forests (Lumberjack).

As we see, the three professions come into play, the malt of the peasant (Unlocked at level 120), the potions of the alchemist and the planks of the woodcutter.

This combination of recipes (Ancestor Potion, Old Age Potion and Engraving Boards) is a real goldmine. It will cost you absolutely nothing if you drop the additional resources (2 resources, very easily obtainable) and is extremely expensive. The time/income ratio is very good.

It is advisable to mount harvest trades first, because these are professions that do not require (or little) investment compared to others. In addition, they are profitable very early, which is not the case with craft trades.

Once you have enough kamas, you can start crafting jobs.

II. The craft professions

Dofus: Guide, Tips and Advice on Professions

You should know that tradest (with the exception of handyman) are not "big" jobs, that is to say that you will not often do the same object 100 times in one session (at high level I mean). The items you make will take longer to sell and will require an investment for your creation.

But craft professions have the merit of being professions requested à high level. You will often receive private messages to craft items for other people for a fee.

Dofus: Guide, Tips and Advice on Professions Crafting professions are expensive and time-consuming to set up, don't set them up with the aim of making a huge profit from the start, you will be disappointed. These are long term profitable trades.

We saw at the beginning of the article that there are 7 crafting professions. Six of them are dedicated to item crafting:
- Tailor for headdresses, capes and bags
- Cobbler for belts and boots
- Jeweler for rings and amulets
- Blacksmith for weapons containing metal (sword, dagger, hammer, shovel and axe)
- Sculptor for weapons containing wood (staff, bow and wand)
- Shaper for shields, trophies and idols.

And the last is bricoleur, a job that will give you the opportunity to make dungeon keys as well as breeding items.

Two of these professions have an "affinity" with another, at first level (before 170): Blacksmith/Miner and Sculptor/Lumberjack. It will therefore be easier (and above all, less expensive) for you to set up a blacksmith if you are a miner than a fisherman.
The other professions mostly use resources found on monsters in the World of Twelve.

Tailor, Jeweler et Shoemaker are very popular professions, unlike the professions of Blacksmith and Sculptor. Indeed, everyone puts on a hat, but not everyone uses a sword or a bow.

The business of shaper is also popular, for idols, as well as trophies, which have become essential elements of the game. This profession will also allow you to make shields, but these are only useful in 1vs1 PvP, which is set to disappear .

Finally, the job of bricoleur, sought after by dungeon farmers and ranchers. Crafting keys will require resources from monsters, and, at high level, ores, wood, and plants, while breeding items will be crafted from wood, dungeon keeper essence (Alchemist) and of monster resources. It's a profitable business, but beware of crafts, they quickly become expensive.

III. Magic magic, and your items are prettier

Dofus: Guide, Tips and Advice on Professions

The professions of smithmagic are professions that are really different from the others, because they have no recipes. Indeed, they allow you to modify an object by adding runes to it, which will modify the stats of your item.

Runes are obtained by destroying items. This is a job where a part of luck comes into play, because the runes do not always pass and your item can lose stats. It's an easy job to build, but very daunting and doesn't pay much, unless you get into exotic smithmagic, where a lot of luck comes into play.

IV. Conclusion

Professions in Dofus form a real game mechanics. They are indispensable, unlike many other games.
They are a very good source of income for single/duo account(s).

For my part, I favor harvest trades, which are by far the most profitable and safest. Once assembled, they will only require a little time for a profitability unmatched by craft trades (With one to two hours a day, we make a very nice sum of kamas per week).

Crafting professions are more useful for people playing teams, as professions are not their main source of money.
