Announced at the beginning of the year, the redesign of the shields is finally unveiled. It was time because the shields were starting to age badly!

Generality and objectives of the overhaul
It is true that shields were a problem in Dofus for the following reasons:
- Shields are only useful to a minority of characters (they have no use in PvE and Kolossium for example).
- The conditions for equipping them are based on an obsolete honor point system that is too often circumvented and leaves too much room for cheating and fixed fights.
- Shields are seen as important cosmetic customization items but cannot be used with 2-handed weapons.
Ankama has therefore decided to give this equipment a new lease of life!
New arrivals
- Usefulness for all characters : shields will provide bonuses that will be useful in all types of combat (PvP and PvE).
- Significant impact on the way of playing : Shields will have new effects that can have a big impact on the way a character is played.
- Mechanics of choice : shields that will benefit from significant bonuses will be accompanied by rewards to encourage players to make decisive choices when selecting a shield.
- Optimal accessibility : shields will only have a level criterion to be used, all characters will be able to use them regardless of the type of weapon they use.
- Resource Destruction : the shields must allow to consume resources of monsters, bosses and kolizetons.
- Interactions with Smithmagic : shields must be able to be modified by smithmagic and generate runes.
Effects shields (page 2)
Shields will not be equipment like any other, they will benefit from classic effects (those that can be found on current equipment) but also new effects which:
- Increase damage caused (in percentage) in melee / ranged / by weapons / by spells.
- Reduce damage suffered (in percentage) in melee / ranged / by weapons / by spells.
These significant effects will generally be accompanied by counterparties, via effects which:
- Increase damage suffered (in percentage) in melee / ranged / by weapons / by spells.
- Reduce damage caused (in percentage) in melee / ranged / by weapons / by spells.
The classic effects will be present on the shields in less quantity than on other equipment, but the impact of the new effects of damage modification caused or received will be significant on the effectiveness of the characters.
These effects can be applied to future items stake.

The end of the weapon has two hands
The notion of a 1 or 2 handed weapon will disappear in version 2.41, which means that the shields can be used with all the weapons of the game. In return, balancing weapons will be integrated with version 2.41 (nerf of the daggers éhry?).
Crafting and Smithmagic
Shields will still be crafted by crafters. Recipes will include Boss Essences, Kolossium Pebbles, Monster Resources, and Harvestable Resources.
In order to guarantee sufficient durability for the manufacture of shields, they can be smithmaged to modify their effects, and they can also be broken to generate classic smithmagic runes.
The new effects specific to shields will be able to generate new types of smithmagic runes and can therefore be applied to all equipment via exotic smithmagic!
The low number of effects present on the shields will make it easier to smithmagic these objects (in particular the addition of exotic bonuses), but players will be encouraged to have several shields to easily adapt to the context of the fights. It will then be necessary to add exotic bonuses to several shields.

PvP-specific resistance effects will be removed from the game as they will be replaced with different effects that work in all game modes. Here's what's planned:
- Old broken shields : they can no longer be exchanged for other shields with the NPC Bouwada. They can be equipped but not crafted and can still be used with Mimisymbics. They will lose their PvP resistance effects. Examples: engulfed Akwadala shield, dog-eared Kloume.
- In-game crafted shields : they will be renamed and can still be equipped but can no longer be crafted. They can be used with Mimibiotics. They will lose their PvP resistance effects. Examples: shield of Asse, shield of Mount Kipou.
- Cosmetic Shields (Shop) : These shields will lose their PvP resistance effects (if they have any), but can still be equipped and used as cosmetic items. Examples: sun shield, Chispouclier
- Cosmetic shields (event) : no change for these shields which currently have no effects and are only cosmetic. Examples: Kimbo's shield, Dramak's shield.
- Tournament Shields : These shields will lose their PvP resistances and become cosmetic-only shields. Example: Champion's shield 646, champion's shield
The current thirty shields that can be crafted in game will be reused to create new shields with different levels, effects and recipes.
Twenty new shields will also be added to the game to provide more diversity.
