THE 10 MOST ANTICIPATED GAMES OF 2012
1. Soul Calibur V
Publisher: Namco Bandai
Developer: Project Soul
Genre: fight
Support : PS3, X360
Released: February 3, 2012
Announced for this year, will the next Assassin's Creed bring back the fiery Ezio? Whatever his future in the series that made him known, the white assassin will still play his blades on our screens. The Italian indeed invites himself to the credits of Soul Calibur V, although he leaves the top of the bill to the two brave offspring of Sophitia. Newcomers, Patroklos and Pyrrha will scrap with their mother's old friends, such as Siegfried, Mitsurugi, Ivy or Raphael. Sharp bruises, charismatic elders, higher game speed and the scrapping of Critical Finish, the fifth installment of one of the most accessible and user-friendly fighting games on the market has all the assets to cut through the quick. !
2. Final Fantasy XIII-2
Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Square Enix
Gender: role
Support : PS3, X360
Released: February 3, 2012
Legend among legends of Japanese role-playing games, Final Fantasy will celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. To celebrate its flagship license with dignity, Square Enix is refining what will be both a sequel and a corrective to the spectacular and very controversial Final Fantasy XIII. Larger, less linear, the adventure will take the form of a superb hunt for paradoxes, a new concept and once again deliciously obscure. Those allergic to J-RPGs will always want to distribute mandalas to a tribe of heroes with both Shakespearean and childish impulses, but the further enriched combat system and the excellence of the realization will delight millions of aficionados. .
3. Catherine
Publisher: KOCH Media
Developer: Atlus
Genre: curiosity
Support : PS3, X360
Released: February 9, 2012
Don't be fooled by her erotic-Japanese jacket, Catherine is, in the opinion of some seriously ill people, including our dear Pierre, one of the most significant Japanese achievements of recent months. Imagined by barred gamers for furious hardcore gamers, the production of Atlus will land in Europe after setting fire to the Archipelago. Carried by a disconcerting concept, between animated adventure and quirky puzzle-game, and a very old school difficulty, this iconoclastic and unexpected work sees Vincent, thirty-year-old lost in adulterous alcoholism, literally pursued by his anxieties in potentially fatal nightmares. For curious and ramshackle minds, weary of academic action-adventure.
4. The Darkness II
Publisher: 2K Games
Developer: Digital Extremes
Genre : FPS
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Released: February 10, 2012
Blood, guns and beautiful grandmas, The Darkness II is, at first sight, more in winning efficiency than in playful good taste. The FPS inspired by the comics of the same name cannot however be limited to this basic equation. It is based in particular on a black plot from black, which sees Jackie Estacado, a former mafia trigger possessed by an evil entity, in fight with a small group very interested in the powers conferred on him by this schizophrenic cohabitation. It must be said that in return for the painful invasion of his body and his mind, The Darkness provides Jackie with two monstrous appendages, living tentacles that allow him to brutally grab objects and opponents and to bone them in an instant. !
5. Asura’s Wrath
Editor: Capcom
Developer: CyberConnect 2
Genre: Wild action
Support : PS3, X360
Released: February 24, 2012
Somewhat tired of chaining the explosive adventures of Naruto, the Japanese studio CyberConnect2 is preparing to sink into cataclysmic action with Asura's Wrath, a spectacular beat'm'all whose mere mention is enough to make Maxime's eyes sparkle. Demi-god banished 12 years ago, the very angry Asura will seek revenge there against his former and colossal comrades of nirvana. A real pleasure for this furious fighter, who will fight between third-person action and Hollywood QTEs in a world populated by missile launchers and creatures from Asian mythology. A titanic work, which seems to have all the necessary qualities to establish itself as the God of War-like of 000.
6. Mass Effect 3
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Developer: BioWare
Genre : Action/RPG
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Released: Mar 8, 2012
He who sows death reaps death, as the menacing Reapers and terrifying Reapers will learn the hard way in the ultimate episode of BioWare's role-playing space opera. Always surrounded by a fine team of sensible and sensitive triggers, Commander Shepard, super-savior of the galaxy, will complete his stellar journey, and will even take the opportunity to offer himself a short stopover on the blue planet. Mass Effect 3 will obviously take into account the choices made by users of previous sections, but beginners will also have their place in a necessarily epic title, which will attempt to combine the dense game system of the initial section and the more action-oriented its sequel.
7. Street Fighter X Tekken
Editor: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Genre: fight
Support : PS3, X360
Released: Mar 9, 2012
Although they ask Santa Claus every year to send them a KOF vs Kirby which would allow them to settle their accounts definitively in the universes which are respectively the most dear to them, Maxime and Laurely must be satisfied with alternative crossovers but not necessarily less impactful . In 2012, our men will be able to put themselves happily on the face with Street Fighter X Tekken. Designed by Capcom, the title brings together Ryu, Chun-Li and their friends as well as Kazuya, King and others, includes the tag team dear to Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and develops the gameplays of SF and Tekken in parallel. Indigestible on paper, the formula has however completely conquered our two fighters during the last E3 and the improbable crossing could well give birth to the best fighting game of the year!
8. Max Payne 3
Editor: Rockstar Games
Developer: Rockstar Vancouver
Genre : action
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Released: March 2012
He's not so free Max, and besides he's old and completely stoned. The tortured cop imagined by Remedy has rolled and dented his hump since his last adventure, until crashing in Sao Paulo, where he hides in the service of the Branco family by threading without measure pills and bottles. Shaved head and visible muscles under a smudged tank top, the king of bullet time has changed his face and his life but has retained his talents as a character gunslinger. Very useful donations to settle, in real time or in slow motion, their account to all the bad guys who will seek to make his skin in an episode which once again promises to be superbly written, graphically abundant and formidably rhythmic.
9. Dragon's Dogma
Editor: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Genre: Action/Adventure
Support : PS3, X360
Released: spring 2012
Bringing together the best of North American action games and Japanese savage fight in the same product, such is Capcom's bet with Dragon's Dogma. The Japanese company has given itself the means to achieve its ambitions by bringing together around producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi (Resident Evil 4) a solid team that has been working for nearly three years. Lightly crossing roles between the bombast of a Devil May Cry and the cinematography of the wild team rides popular with today's Western TPS, this amazing adventure will delight nervous warriors in love with medieval-fantasy universes. They will fight gigantic creatures there, which they can even climb, like in Shadow of the Colossus!
10. Diablo III
Publisher: Blizzard Entertainment
Developer: Blizzard Entertainment
Genre : hack'n'slash
Support : PC
Exit: current 2012
To celebrate fifteen years of the first Diablo with dignity, Blizzard plans to give us a nice gift: Diablo III! The lord of hack'n'slash is thus preparing to bleed the competition in a new iteration rich in novelties. With its five character classes, the disappearance of its skill tree, its auction house that will hurt your wallet and various other more or less significant gameplay improvements, the California blockbuster should do justice to its lineage. Wild and dark, polished and perfectly optimized, addictive and community-based, the most anticipated hack'n'slash of the year even has fun multiplying the nods to its predecessors. Devilishly fun!
11.BioShock Infinite
Publisher: 2K Games
Developer: Irrational Games
Genre : FPS
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Exit: current 2012
Maxime and Laurely returned from GameCom 2010 and E3 2011 with their jaws loose. Last October, it was the turn of Laure and Florian to return, with tears in their eyes, from a brief trip to London. The cause of their condition? The discovery of BioShock Infinite, new jewel of Irrational Games. The fabulous license takes altitude with this new episode, in which a big arm with a big heart and a mysterious young girl with supernatural powers try to escape from Columbia, a flying city in total dereliction. Do not make fun of our sensitive collaborators: just like its predecessors before it, this sumptuous FPS without a narrative link with the underwater diptych could indeed propel the genre towards new horizons.
12. The Last Guardian
Editeur: Sony
Developer: SCE Studios Japan
Genre: Adventure
Support : PS3
Exit: current 2012
In January 2011, we bet on a release of The Last Guardian before the end of 2011. Missed! This time, promised, the new wonder of Team Ico will see the light of day in the next twelve months. Unless... Between rumors of cancellation, true-false departure of Fumito Ueda, charismatic game designer of the project, true withdrawal of Yoshifusa Hayama, executive producer, and delays in shambles, the adventures of the gigantic chimera Torico and the young heroes of this poetic adventure game seem to get bogged down. However, Sony reiterated its support for an ambitious and touching action-adventure title, which could mark its era and forever inscribe its name in the pantheon of PS3 exclusives. Knock on wood!
13. DMC
Editor: Capcom
Developer: Ninja Theory
Genre: Action
Support : PS3, X360
Exit: current 2012
Lara Croft and Dante, same fight! Like his adventurous sister, the demon hunter will be reborn in 2012 in an episode that will focus on his dissolute youth and his wanderings in the demonic Limbo City. A bygone era during which the swordsman gunslinger king of the combo proudly sported a short hair...brown! At the origin of the friendly Heavenly Sword and Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, the Ninja Theory studio will however have a lot to do to honor Capcom's hero. Devil May Cry has indeed blown a furious burst of freshness on the action in the third person from its first appearance and, while the competition is getting tougher each year, plays a little survival with this reboot.
14. Halo 4
Publisher: Microsoft
Developer: 343 Industries
Genre : FPS
Support : X360
Exit: current 2012
If Master Chief thought he could take a little rest, it was badly knowing the requirements of the video game market. Although he completed his trilogy peplum with honors, the super soldier defender of humanity will return to service in 2012 in Halo 4, the first part of a triad in the making. Extremely discreet about the content of its future FPS, 343 Industries will have to demonstrate its ability to appropriate a saga imagined by others. Rest assured, the legend seems to be in good hands: author last year of a successful HD remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, Microsoft's internal studio has a good number of small hands in its ranks who have already worked on the series.
15. Guild Wars 2
Publisher: NCsoft
Developer: ArenaNet
Genre : MMORPG
Support : PC
Exit: current 2012
"Guild Wars 2 could well open its doors definitively this year, provided that it is stable and able to properly bury its predecessor, still very popular with MMORPG players", we wrote last year. The online medieval-fantasy role-playing game did welcome players in 2011, but through a closed beta that started in December. Is marketing in 2012 therefore possible? ArenaNet is not very talkative on the subject and we believe more in the landing in the year of Mists of Pandaria, the fourth extension of WoW, than in that of the Eastern blockbuster. As always, hope will keep social warriors longing for colorful Korean-style savagery.
16. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance
Publisher: Konami
Developer: Platinum Games
Genre: Action
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Exit: current 2012
When Hideo Kojima, father of Metal Gear, joins forces with Platinum Games studio, behind some of the most furious action games of recent years (Mad World, Bayonetta), what can they conceive of? other than a nervous title in the MGS universe? Centered around the cybernetic version of Raiden, hero of the second episode of the main series, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance invites you to cut everything that comes within reach of your katana and from the angle you want. Objects, elements of the decor and, of course, enemies, can thus be cut into more or less fine slices. In order not to sink unnecessarily into gore, Raiden will face a lot of cyborgs and will be able to get rid of his flesh and blood adversaries by more… human means!
17. Kid Icarus Uprising
Editeur: Nintendo
Developer: Project Sora
Genre: Action
Support : 3DS
Exit: current 2012
Apart from the more or less successful ports of existing games and sometimes brilliant variations of known franchises, the 3DS toy library struggles a little to convince. Will things work out this year? To see, but a title should however mark the spirits: Kid Icarus Uprising. For its first outing in over twenty years, Pit will again face the forces of hell in a rail shooter very inspired by the ancient Space Harrier. On land and in the air, the cherub will shoot vicious creatures and gigantic monsters in the pay of the terrible queen of darkness, Medusa. Rather pretty and apparently well paced, the game will offer, in addition to its single player mode, multiplayer up to six.
18. Hitman Absolution
Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Io Interactive
Genre : Action/Infiltration
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Exit: current 2012
Obviously too busy doing anything (the two Kane & Lynch, Mini Ninjas, three failed games), the Danes of Io Interactive had somewhat left aside their flagship license, Hitman. Five years after the seductive Hitman: Blood Money, the studio finally decides to return Agent 47, a bald killer tattooed with a barcode, to business. Very oriented infiltration but not neglecting the action, superbly produced and benefiting from an improved AI, Hitman: Absolution perpetuates the tradition of class and chilling killing dear to the series. The Scandinavian production, which will take place as always in environments open to innumerable possibilities of interaction, offers itself as a bonus extremely cinematographic staging processes which should make it the interactive film noir of 2012!
19. TOMB RAIDER
Publisher: Square Enix
Développeur : Crystal Dynamics
Genre: Action/Adventure
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Exit: current 2012
Let's face it: we didn't understand much about the Tomb Raider saga anymore. Between the succession of trilogies, the remake Tomb Raider: Anniversary, the dematerialized spin-off Tomb Raider and The Guardian of Light, the only thing we still managed to cling to was nothing less than the busty Lara Croft . Visibly as lost as we are, the Crystal Dynamics studio has decided to start the series from scratch with the soberly titled Tomb Raider, designed around the shipwreck that led the heroine to live her initiatory epic. An interesting narrative overhaul, which will naturally impact neither the playful mechanics dear to this action-adventure legend, nor the generous curves of the young lady.
20. GTA V
Editor: Rockstar Games
Developer: Rockstar North
Genre : GTA
Support : PC, PS3, X360
Exit: current 2012
By releasing the teaser for its new major project at the beginning of November 2011, Rockstar remained faithful to its principles: make a lot of noise without revealing too much. For the fifth iteration of its key license, the studio still offers a little throwback by staging the city of Los Santos, an imaginary double of Los Angeles already on the poster for GTA IV. A well-known playground that the developers have not failed to review in large widths, considerably reviewing the scale of the city and its level of detail in order to offer ever more freedom and entertainment to apprentice thugs in search small pleasures. One of the bombs of the year... provided it comes out before December 31!
