Animal Crossing therefore takes you into a virtual village populated by animals, each more original than the next. The game that takes place in real time (synchronized to the console clock) will give you an environment that you can customize endlessly. In this opus, you will not play just any villager, but Mr (or Mrs) the Mayor himself. Because it all starts with a short train journey during which you will choose your name as well as that of your village, then you will arrive at a station where you will be welcomed with open arms. After the confusion, you finally understand that the inhabitants who have come to cheer you take you for the Mayor of the city. And before you can say anything, you're on your way to your new role, with all the constraints that role entails. Unlike the previous opus, you are therefore at the head of the city. Here no political failure in sight or rigged election, you have all the powers and all the rights.
Live my life as mayor
Helped by your assistant Marie, you will take your first steps in political life. Animal Crossing: New Leaf does not have a specific common thread, you will be free to do what you want, when you want. Thus, from the top of your high office, you will be free to commission public works, to indulge your passion for landscaping or to sign municipal decrees in order to establish a living environment for your inhabitants or to improve the town planning of your village. By listening to your fellow citizens, each of your decisions will all be made easily, and the taxpayers that they are, will help you finance all your projects. It is you who will create your own rules. This is what is appreciable in Animal Crossing New Leaf: everything is customizable as desired. Thus, with the money you will have hard earned by fishing, picking fruit or picking flowers, you will be able to buy clothes and accessories. Customization being pushed to its maximum, you will be able to dress the way you want and personalize your home like any self-respecting Valérie Damidot.

In terms of gameplay, it couldn't be simpler. All buttons have a single well-defined function. The set is very ergonomic and the use of the stylus is not necessarily untimely. The menus are easily accessible and you juggle between the map and the inventory with great ease, for example. Everything has been thought out to make the gamer's task easier so that he can concentrate as much as possible on the gaming experience by offering him intuitive controls. Just like the menus, the graphics are also very neat. The capabilities of the portable console are very well exploited, and this colorful environment is far from aggressive. Certainly it's not next-gen style HD, but in the genre, the childish environment is rather immersive, the music ending to bring us back to childhood. Everything is completely faithful to the series by respecting the codes that made the success of the game.
But the great strength of Animal Crossing New Leaf is its social character. Ok, the AI embodied by the inhabitants of the village wants to be rather alive. Word of mouth is booming and gossip will be at the heart of conversation, just like in any city. But where the experience takes on a new dimension is once online. You will be able to visit the city of your friends in order to get inspired, exchange and share or simply to play a few mini-games. The StreetPass further promotes trading options. With this, you will accumulate the data of the people you meet in the street (still have to meet some...) and this will allow you to admire their avatars, their houses and all their personalization choices in order to further reinforce the idea of sharing and exchange. Of course, as with all Animal Crossing, the experience ends where the boredom begins. By dint of going around in circles, the game becomes a bit redundant. But obviously, if you are eager for life simulation and personalization as far as the eye can see, we cannot advise you too much to take the plunge in this virtual village where the animals will welcome you with open arms.
