Logitech Pro X review: a gaming headset as simple as it is effective

    DESIGN : 4/5

Far from doing in exhibitionism, Logitech is here inscribed in a frankly appreciable sobriety. Exit the modular diodes which transform the purchaser into a Christmas tree; here, the Pro X shows more conventionalism, sobriety, and a certain class. The frank and rounded shapes frame fairly pure matte and smooth textures: note, for example, the chrome metallic tracksuit on the ear cups, real marks of elegance that definitely hit the bull's eye. On the other hand, do not expect any button, even to modulate the sound volume. For this, it will be necessary to refer to the wire with a small adapted console, the Pro X doing in pure and simple efficiency with, only, two jack sockets as contact with the outside.

Similarly, the imitation leather present on the ear cups and the headband are to be highlighted, even if the touch quickly betrays their imitation. We may regret that one of the wires provided is not braided, both for its design and for its robustness, and that the microphone comes to fit in a somewhat foreign way in the design. Some players will no doubt opt for more flashy products, but it is clear that the Pro X blends very well into the decor - even in public transport - without overdoing it and, above all, in s applying very correctly to the essentials. On this point, it is validated.

    COMFORT: 4/5

Logitech has always known how to manage to design sound objects of very good quality. Accessible for €129, the Pro X clearly fulfills its ergonomic functions with an honest weight (320 grams) and above all materials intended to be worn for long hours. Its shape memory pads are obviously appreciable – a spare pair is provided in case of wear, the texture being, as we recall, only an imitation leather – as well as its light steel headband and aluminum elements which make up the extendable part of the headband. It would be in bad faith to spit on the comfort of the Pro X, we will simply regret its compulsory wired operation, always disturbing when you are used to wireless. A choice obviously made for performance purposes. Moreover, there are also several cables depending on the use you want to give to the headset – to connect it to the PC, to your mobile phone or for a splitter – with lengths ranging from 1,2 meters to 2 meters and of a different finish. If the Pro X had opted for a wireless system and a few grams less, no doubt it would have been ranked among the most efficient in this field, even if it already fulfills its part of the contract very well. In addition, a nice pocket makes it easy to carry everything and that's a little more undeniable.

    PERFORMANCES : 5/5

This mid-range/beginning of high-end from Logitech boasts a whole host of technological merits: coming from the manufacturer, we know automatically that these are not necessarily empty words. Like the premium G935 headphones, the Pro X relies on DTS Headphone:X 2.0 technology for a 7.1 surround rendering that has already been widely proven. In terms of sound spatialization, the product displays a very correct depth in the bass and treble and an effective 3D environment. If it is indeed designed for eSports, its use for much more playful cultural purposes is also very suitable even if the bass is, of course, not as heavy as larger headsets with batteries or battery.

Logitech Pro X review: a gaming headset as simple as it is effectiveOn the other hand, where the Pro X has decidedly moved its pawn intelligently, it is in the presence of an external USB sound card coming directly from USB. A little more undeniable for a refined result and, above all, an ever more precise setting through the dedicated software. Great strength of the firm, Logitech G HUB remains definitely an excellent platform (free) to adjust its tools of the mark in the smallest details. With a simple, classy and refined interface, it is possible to opt for presets according to the genre of game, the desired music and, even, according to the author. Several presets come, indeed, from official eSport players and we are given the possibility to download the templates of all the authors who will have previously uploaded them. Apart from that, know that it is quite possible to get your hands dirty yourself by making sharp scales on all the sound sections. Finally, it is important to underline the performance of the microphone which, if not necessarily the best integrated, benefits from BLUE VO CE technology, also adjustable from the H HUB. We can thus get down to preparing the reduction of noise, the addition of compression or de-essing to adapt our voice skillfully.

    VERDICT : 4/5
In the end, the Pro X turns out to be an excellent product considering its mid-range price – 129€ – with a classy and refined design with neat tones. Its memory foam provides obvious comfort with pleasant earpieces that can be worn for several hours and a headband that can boast of having received attentive care. With an integrated sound card and, above all, a multitude of still daunting adjustments thanks to Logitech's software platform, this is a headset that fully fulfills its functions even if it would have benefited from having more mobility without its wire. In addition, the Pro X can even boast of being worn outside of gaming without necessarily attracting intrigued eyes and that's an undeniable plus.
