Playing games from the first PS VR headset (PS4) on the PS VR2 of the PS5 what you need to know

It has now been several months since Sony teams announced the PS VR2, the next-generation virtual reality headset that will accompany the PS5 throughout its life cycle. The release of the headset is even fast approaching as it is expected to debut in early 2023 (although the official release date is yet to be determined). For those who haven't followed the VR news too much in recent months, you should know that no less than 20 games are already in preparation!

With behemoths like Horizon, Resident Evil or even No Man's Sky licenses. If you want to fully exploit the full power of your PS5 by equipping yourself with this new virtual reality headset, one question must however come to mind (especially if you have the first PS VR )…

Are virtual reality games released on PS4 compatible with PlayStation VR2?

The answer to this question is known! And the latest news, the games of the first PS VR of the name are not compatible with the PS VR2 headset. The PlayStation teams explain this to the fact that the virtual reality headset of the PS5 embeds a completely different technology and therefore operates far from the first headset. The helmet completely does without an external camera, for example, which is not the case with the first helmet. The tracking of the player and his movements is therefore very different with the PS VR2.

If you own games like Moss, Resident Evil 7, Blood & Truth or the excellent Astro Bot Rescue Mission, you won't be able to play them without plugging your good old PS VR headset from 2016 into a PS4 or PS5 with the official adapter.

These games cannot be launched directly with the PS VR 2 headset! But from what we know, there is still hope since some development studios are already working behind the scenes to port their VR games to PlayStation's next virtual reality headset. On the other hand, we do not yet know if it will be done via a free upgrade like some games that have been released on PS4 and have been improved for the PS5.
