Let's play fair. Without the presence of these raving rabbits, straight out of Michel Ancel's imagination, Rayman's notoriety today would certainly have remained at a standstill. It is therefore with a certain skill and a most monstrous marketing campaign that Ubisoft has succeeded in imposing these stupid rabbits on the screen. Parodic videos, funny situations, Michel Ancel being savagely attacked then kidnapped, the launch of Rayman against the Rabbids is a guaranteed success. Thanks to word of mouth, Internet users exchanged links and other videos of the game, creating an incredible buzz even before its release. On the eve of the release of the Wii in Europe, the hour of the verdict for Rayman against the Raving Rabbids has finally come.
Bwaaaaaaaaaaah!
Although it is above all intended for multiplayer, Rayman against the Rabbids nevertheless offers a Story mode with scenario at the key and everything. While feasting royally at a picnic with his Globox friends, Rayman is brutally kidnapped by rabbits from another planet. So here he is thrown like a slob at the bottom of a filthy cell where he will have to string together different ordeals to redeem himself a name and emerge as a hero from this kidnapping. A scenario a bit bogus it must be admitted but which serves as a simple pretext to feed a pseudo Story mode. There will be no lever to activate or even enemies to kill, you just have to go through the doors of the different cells in an arena to unlock all of the 75 mini-games offered by the game. This is also the mandatory box to hope to unlock all of these events to be able to enjoy them in Score mode, allowing up to 4 people to have fun at the same time.
The designers of Rayman Raving Rabbids used imagination and sometimes even ingenuity to achieve their end. Certainly, among the 75 mini-games, there are some that quickly fall flat, with limited interest, but we must admit that there is enough to split the pear, both literally and figuratively. Those who have a serious need to lose a few extra pounds will be delighted to learn that it is possible to burn those extra calories thanks to Rayman Rabbids Rabbids. Between the Superrabbit throw, the game of 1, 2, 3 Sun, shots on goal, running or even carrot juice, there is enough to build your arms. In this regard, Ubisoft has classified the different events into several sections and the one called bodybuilding has not usurped its reputation. Fortunately, there are other less physical tests, more focused on reflection and which will do us a world of good to rest our muscles. Some challenges are rather simple and fun, while others may put our nerves to the test, as the difficulty is excessive. One thinks in particular of the mini-game "Rabbits are rather slow on the trigger" where the objective is to slide a ball from point A to point B, while avoiding the holes and this by means of a turntable. Not easy, especially when his arm is still dazed after this frantic racing session.
Thanks to its 75 mini-games, Rayman against the Rabbids makes excellent use of all the functions of the Wiimote and the Nunchuk. There's even a test where you have to play with the Wiimote's speaker to find your way back. Clever. Each of the tests offered is preceded by an explanatory sheet that allows the player to properly understand what awaits him right after. Well balanced, calibrated as it should be, each movement requested in Rayman against Rabbids makes us scream with pleasure or pain, it depends. Too bad, however, that you have to finish the “Story” mode before you can fully enjoy the concept with your friends or family members. After this little constraint, Rayman against the Rabbids can be enjoyed with pleasure from start to finish.
