Level 5 and Nintendo are making up for lost time with Inazuma Eleven. Long confined to Japan, on DS in particular, the series is now developing in Europe at an astonishing speed. The first two versions of Inazuma Eleven 3, released on DS in 2010 on the Japanese archipelago, arrived on 3DS last September with us and are now followed by a third iteration (you have to make the locations profitable, huh). The Ogres are attacking! is therefore very logically a quasi-compliant copy of the Celestial Lightning and Explosive Fire versions. Let's first go to square one, namely a small recap for those who have never heard of the series. True spiritual heir of Captain Tsubasa, Inazuma Eleven mixes football, RPG and manga with great blows of special techniques and ubiquitous reversals of situation. After dominating Japan, the Inazuma team sets out to conquer the world to win the Football Frontier International, with a new touchy and mysterious coach... This new competition will be an opportunity to see familiar faces again but also to new encounters. First difference compared to the Celestial Lightning and Explosive Fire versions, the narrative frame which offers a new point of view with the history of the Ogres, a team come from the future to destroy the interest which exists around football. Yes, it's Inazuma trash. Visually as well, since the game is a port of almost no added value to the Japanese DS version. The game is therefore technically ultra old-fashioned and we say to ourselves that at the price of a 3DS game, we could have been entitled to a few minor adjustments.

On the gameplay side, we must admit that we are looking for changes a little... The game mechanics have absolutely not changed since last September. Each chapter allows us to discover the personality of one of the partners of the emblematic goalkeeper Mark Evans, with a lot of talk and tedious back and forth, training and a few random challenges to bend in two steps to end on a big competitive game. These are always played entirely with the stylus, with which you can decide the trajectories of your players, your shots and your passes. The Energy Points of your men, which decrease as the match progresses, influence their movements and the resolution of duels, while the Technique Points allow them to trigger special abilities, to dribble, recover or hit the goal. A pause function (which can only be reactivated after a few seconds) allows you to give a little tactical side to the game, by unfortunately planning a little bit limited the movements and passes of your players. It should be noted that Inazuma Eleven is a series clearly geared towards a young audience and the RPG side remains accessible at the same time as being quite superficial. The interest of the game lies mainly in its collectible aspect since it is possible to recruit several dozen players throughout the adventure, each with their own abilities and their elemental affinity. The Ogres Attack! thus brings to the series a whole host of new potential partners but also spectacular new techniques, to be unlocked as the chapters progress. Add to that an exclusive "Tournament" mode, in which you can develop your team, and you can assess the interest of this third version of Inazuma Eleven 3.
