Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is a role-playing game with complex gameplay mechanics and rich possibilities. With this Nintendo Switch exclusivity, the Monolith Soft teams have once again seen things big to offer fans a totally oversized adventure. We have been living this adventure on our side for a while with Noah and the other protagonists / heroes of the story.
During our journey, we have learned and discovered quite a few of the possibilities that are offered by Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and sometimes even very late after having spent several dozen hours of play on it... If you are starting to live this adventure, we figured you might be interested in learning some useful tips and tricks. Here are 7!
Tip 1 – level up your classes with silver nopon doubloons:
You may have missed it, but you can increase the level of the classes played by your characters with nopon duplicates. When you consult the sheet of a character and its class, look at the bottom of the screen, you will see that by pressing the "Y" button on your controller you can spend some nopon doubloons to increase the level of a specific class . You need 23 silver doubloons to raise a class from level 1 to level 10 without needing to play with it.
Tip 2 – Don't wait until you have 99 nopon duplicates to start using them…
There are multiple ways to get nopon doubloons in Xenoblade Chronicles 3, be it the silver ones or the gold ones. You will accumulate 99 silver doubloons very quickly by exploring the different regions of the game. Be aware that once you reach 99 doubloons, the rest is lost and automatically sold! It would be a shame to lose duplicates because you have too many on you. When you have more than 60, don't hesitate for a second to use them. By increasing the level of your classes for example or by completing your collection quests with or via the kitchen.
Tip 3 – Find Nopon Money Exchange to get Legendary Accessories:
From Chapter 3 when you explore the Fornis region, take a walk in the desert part of the region where the sand is hot and progress until you reach the landmark of the "raptor's perch" (this is the desert area between colony 4 and colony 30). You can from this point access a small cave where you will have to solve puzzles to open doors which will allow you to reach the residence of the wise man. This is a special place where you can exchange your nopon doubloons for legendary accessories.
Tip 4 – Level up your characters quickly with this technique:
As you progress through the game's chapters, you'll be introduced to chaining, an action you can perform when the special gauge to the right of the screen is full for characters to cooperate and take turns casting arts. We advise you to hunt down unique monsters (recognizable by the orange icon around their level) and wait until they have less than 5% health points before initiating a chain.
By doing this at the last moment, your chain will enter the annihilation phase which will have the effect of increasing the percentage counter which indicates the experience points you will earn at the end of the confrontation. Each hit will have the effect of increasing the counter until the end of the action knowing that the longer your sequence is, the more exp you will get at the end. This is a great way to quickly level up your characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Tip 5 – Choose the hero who will accompany you on the field:
Throughout the adventure and by reaching new settlements, you will be able to complete hero quests which will allow you to unlock new classes and will have access to new characters who can accompany you in the adventure and fight by your side. Instead of having 6 characters in battle, you can thus have 7.
Heroes are very useful for making long chains (and useful for the previous trick) since they allow you to make heroic chains. We advise you to choose the hero who accompanies you to explode this chain counter. Indeed, the higher the percentage of a sequence, the more characters you will reactivate for the next move.
- From 100% to 149%, the game will tell you "well done" and reactivate a character.
- From 150% to 199%, you will get the "tremendous" rating and reactivate two characters.
- From 200% and above, you will get an “exceptional” rating and reactivate three characters.
By including the right hero in the party, you can easily manipulate the outcome of a chain. Ethel, for example, multiplies the PT by 150% if she attacks first in a chain or Ashera guarantees you an "exceptional" result if she completes the attack order.

Tip 6 – Move faster in combat:
You may not know this, but if you briefly press the right stick on your controller (R), your character will stow their weapons to perform a quick dash in the direction they are heading before resuming combat. If an enemy seems distant from your position, you can take this quick step to get closer. Even better, this technique will be particularly useful if you play the role of a healer to go and revive a teammate who has fallen down. Remember that only characters who have the healer role can revive a character.
Tip 7 – Watch for icons that appear above out of combat enemies:
By exploring the different destinations of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, you will be able to come across a whole local fauna with very different behavior. Sometimes a red icon with an exclamation mark will appear above a particular monster. Be aware that when this happens the monster will dig up or drop resources which may be rare and even unique. It's worth stopping for a few seconds and observing the scene. Note that this icon can also mean that a rare monster will appear in the area.
