Wondering which top tier fighters are favored by pros and amateurs in the competitive scene? Here are the 5 most featured characters in Smash Bros Ultimate.
With more than 70 characters, there are bound to be some who are stronger than others in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While it's a bit early to really know who the best fighters in the game are, first impressions from professional players can give some idea of who has the most potential.
Here is a list, necessarily perfectible, of the best fighters of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, to be reserved for those who really master all the mechanics of the game.
Pikachu
The electric mouse has one of the most important advantages for being considered top third in Smash Bros: great speed. Pikachu is not only fast, but he's also pretty strong. What makes it above all others is the absence of delays after the majority of its attacks. This particularity allows him to make many combos, especially aerial ones. Its speed is that even if one of its attacks is dodged, Pikachu can relaunch a new one before the opponent can use their dodge again.
In addition, Pikachu has all the arsenal of the ideal character. Electric projectiles that go around the edges of the field (and freeze a moment when they hit), punish opponents who do not keep their feet on the ground with his Fatal Lightning, and options to return to the field with the Swift- Attack.
Marth
If Lucina is a solid character to start with, Marth is her more professional version. Marth has the exact same skills and timing as Lucina. He therefore remains a fast character, with a good range. Its main advantage is its ability to edge-guard above the void thanks to its Fair (frontal attack in the air) which immediately sends an opponent to the abyss.
What really sets him apart from Lucina is his damage output. While Lucina does the same moderate damage regardless of her strike, Marth's attacks are much more powerful when the tip of the sword hits. On the other hand, the edge does little damage. It is therefore difficult, but important, to master the range of Marth's blows to get the most out of them.
Felineferno
We've been talking about speed so far, but now we're telling you that the slowest character in all of Smash Bros Ultimate is probably one of the best. It must be said that Félinferno compensates for its lack of speed with an unparalleled projection force. His chops are devastating, especially the back chop which is capable of killing most characters when executed at the edge of the field, if the opponent has more than 58% damage.
Félinferno also has powerful combos, but above all an explosive finish thanks to his Up B. This ultra-risky attack sends Félinferno like a missile, carrying his opponent with him into the depths of the arena. Be careful how high you launch this attack, or you will die too.
And if all that wasn't enough, his parry (Down B) boosts the power of his next attack, meaning he can kill very, very quickly, even if the opponent has taken little damage.
Inkling
Inkling makes a dazzling debut in Smash Ultimate by offering original gameplay that is sure to be prized by the best players. She possesses remarkable speed and range, while having a genuinely interesting arsenal of weapons, as well as mechanics that naturally increase her effectiveness if played aggressively.
We will mainly note his pomegranate. It has an excellent range, it throws very long distance and allows easy edge-guarding. Indeed, the grenade slides easily beyond the rim to hit players who are suspended or very close to being suspended. Even if the opponent avoids the explosion, there is a good chance that he will end up covered in paint.
Smash Ultimate is a more aggressive game than its predecessors, which matches the paint mechanic very well. Each of your attacks can paint your target, and painted targets take even more damage and knockback.
Link Child
The miniature version of Link has advantages that his Hyrule hero counterparts do not. First, we will once again quote its speed. Child Link is the fastest Link to execute his attacks, especially in the air. A bit like Pikachu, the impunity he has with his various aerial movements makes him the ideal character for performing combos or practicing aggressive egde-guarding above the void. Even better than Pikachu, his sword gives him reach that the mouse doesn't have.
Child Link also has his full arsenal, including fire arrows that have much better ranges and speeds than other Links. Finally, the bombs finish making it a superior character, since they can be used to reset the counter of jumps and skills once above the void. If Child Link finds himself rushed away from the field, he can take out a bomb and keep it in hand while he uses his double jump and whirlwind to return. Right after that, his bomb's timing will be over and it will explode, lifting Child Link a bit higher and allowing him to double jump again.
