Shortly after starting your adventure in Elden Ring, you will come across a strange character dressed all in white by the name of "Vare le Blême". While spawning at various locations in the game, this NPC becomes especially important in the Church of the Rose area which is located in the Liurnia Swamps above the Necrolimbo. If you got your first major rune and got an audience with the Two Fingers of the Round Table Bastion, he will appear there and ask you what you thought of it. You will then have to answer him "something was wrong" or "it was wonderful".
If you tell him that "it was wonderful", the conversation will end there. While if you answer him that "something was wrong", he will give you "festering bloody fingers", a single-use item allowing you to invade the world of other players. After invading players using the Festering Bloody Fingers three times, he will ask you to join the Knights of Mohg the Illustrious, Bloodlord to found a new dynasty.
You will have the choice between “welcome me among you” and “I refuse”. If you refuse the conversation ends there (you can restart the dialogue) while if you accept he offers you the key item "Blood Lord's Favor" and tells you that your first task is to imbue it with the blood of 'a servant.
★ Note – Be careful, if you decide to kill “Vare le Blême” at this stage, you will not be able to resurrect him at the Church of Wishes with Heavenly Dew. You will therefore no longer be able to complete his quest. If you made this mistake, there is an alternate path to reach "Illustrious Mohg, Bloodlord".
How to imbue a handmaid's blood with the Bloodlord's Favor:
You can do this very simply by going a little further north on the map, to the Church of Inhibition where you will find an already dead servant on a chair. As you approach the church, you will be invaded by "Rotten Fingered Vyke" that you will have to fight. By defeating it, you can recover the key item "Fingers Fruit" as well as Vyke's war spear. In the church, collect the tear of life near the statue and on your left, interact with the handmaiden to dye the fabric with the blood of a handmaiden.
You will only have to return to "Vare le Blême" at the Church of the Rose to show that you have fulfilled your objective. He will make you an Illustrious Knight of Mohg and give you two items. The bloody finger that will allow you to invade the world of other players in an unlimited way and the medal of thoroughbred knight that he will ask you not to use right away, because his lord is not yet ready.
Reach Mohgwyn Palace and defeat the secret boss Illustrious Mohg, the Blood Lord:
Disregard what he told you and open your inventory. Locate the "Thoroughbred Knight's Medal" item in your consumables and use it. You'll find yourself teleported into Mohgwy Palace, a mini underground dungeon that will lead you to battle Mohg the Illustrious, the Blood Lord. Note that this place will allow you to recover some interesting objects such as large ghostly lily of the valley or rank 9 ghostly lily of the valley. possibility of invading the world of "Varré le Blême" which will allow you to recover his weapon.
Once you are ready to fight Illustrious Mohg, the Bloodlord, go ahead and you will obtain at the end of the fight the major rune of Mohg as well as the memory of the bloodlord. Note that the boss drops a total of 420 runes, enough to raise your character to a few additional levels. Finally, if you are interested in trophies / successes, defeating this boss is also an opportunity to unlock "Mohg, the fragment bearer".
For those who accidentally killed "Vare the Pale" before getting the "Thoroughbred Knight's Medal", you can still get to Mohgwy Palace via an alternate route. You will indeed find a teleporter that leads to it in one of the last areas of the game, the peak of the giants in a place that we have pointed out to you on the map below.
