Building your kingdom in Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord is not done in a day, you will have to go through several stages and meet certain key conditions to achieve this. You will be able to create an army, manage the different aspects of diplomacy such as declaring war on neighboring factions, or on the contrary, making them allies and even allowing clans to join your kingdom. You'll start earning useful influence points for various things, like passing laws or making important decisions.
★ Note – This guide takes into account the campaign quest line, if you are playing in sandbox mode the steps are almost the same except you will not need to assemble the dragon banner and dodge also the quest on the madness of Neretzes.
Establish a Clan and Investigate the Madness of Neretzes (Campaign):
If you're playing the campaign, you'll need to start by following the quest line. The game guides you a little in the process that will allow you to create your own kingdom through these quests. The first step is to establish a clan by collecting your first 1000 denarii (game money), recruiting new heads for your group so that it reaches 20 men and women. You will need to earn 50 fame points and recruit a companion. Goals that are easy to achieve.
However, it is worth pointing out that the game does not really explain how to recruit a companion. If you get stuck on this task, know that you just have to go to a town and take a look at the tavern. You will need to look at the top right of your screen to see if there is a "hero" character to recruit. These are the famous companions. If so, visit the tavern and talk to the important character there. After he tells you his story, you can recruit this character by spending a few denarii.
Now that your clan is established, you must investigate the madness of Neretzes. To achieve this, you simply need to have a conversation with 10 lords/nobles who have the necessary knowledge about the history of Calradia and the Empire. You must therefore crisscross the map and explore the various important cities that are there. When you are in a city where a noble has information about Neretzes' madness, you may see a yellow exclamation point. You will often have to visit the city dungeon, which means spending a few denarii to access it. You will also come across lords/nobles who have the information you are looking for as you wander around the map. If you see a traveling party on horseback with a yellow exclamation mark, intercept it to discuss Neretzes' madness.
This information will allow you to go to meet Istiana and Arzagos in the cities of Marunath and Epicrotea, in order to find the two pieces of the dragon banner that you are missing, which you will then only have to assemble . The two items to collect will be found in bandit hideouts marked on your map.
Create a kingdom on your own or support another kingdom:
After assembling the banner, you won't be far from being able to create your own kingdom in Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord. However, the task will remain difficult if you plan to achieve it on your own since you will now have to climb clan level 4 (a mandatory step in any case), gather 100 troops, have an independent clan, but above all, acquire your own colony. . Or you can also take the easy way out by supporting a non-Imperial kingdom or Imperial faction by gifting their lord with the Dragon Banner.

In the event that you wish to achieve this on your own, continue to build your economy and recruit as many companions as possible. Hire a lot of men and make sure they have a high standard. Then come into conflict with a faction by attacking one of its troops who roam the map. When you are ready enough, you can try to besiege one of their castles which will be easier to take than a city (identify the one which is the least protected on the map).
If successful, contact the enemy immediately to offer to make peace. They will accept if you have important prisoners of their own and compensation money. By doing so, your former enemy will not attempt to besiege the castle you stole from him.
★ Note 3 – If this method seems too complicated for you, go find the lord of a faction with which you wish to be allied to swear allegiance and become a faithful vassal. In return, you'll get help from an entire army to conquer towns and castles when the time is right. The lord can then offer your clan a castle as a reward. Note that you don't have to show the dragon banner for later betrayal.
When a castle or town is yours, go to it and click "manage castle/town" to place a governor there. A family member or companion you have recruited into the game and have a good bond with. Make sure at this stage that you are at peace with the other kingdoms so that they do not try to besiege your property then go to the stronghold of the lord of your castle or the dungeon of your city to go and talk with the governor you have appointed to announce to him that it is time to take a big step forward, to proclaim a new kingdom.
You will have to choose the name of your kingdom as well as the language and the laws (empire or non-empire). Depending on your final choice to make it an imperial or non-imperial kingdom, you will have to find Istiana or Arzagos in the cities of Marunath and Epicrotea to be ready to declare to the other factions that you are in possession of the dragon banner. .
