Late September is the best time to play a game or two of Overwatch first of the name. In just a few days, Blizzard teams will pull the cable and disconnect the servers to make way for Overwatch 2. From when it will no longer be possible to play the first Overwatch:
You should know that the Overwatch 1 servers will be shut down even before Overwatch 2 is released! The end is scheduled for next October 2 (the exact time has not been specified), more than 24 hours before the launch of Overwatch 2 which will be playable for free from October 4, 2022. This delay will allow time players to download the new files on their game support since a "pre-download" is planned while the developers will be hard at work setting up the new servers for this improved version.
Starting October 2, all players who own the Overwatch 1 game and attempt to launch it should see the option to “Update game to Overwatch 2” on PC or consoles. If new players will see Overwatch 2 as a new game, other old players may see it as a 2.0 update.
Last Chance Event and Overwatch 1 Season 2 Start:
Note that until October 2, you have access to the "Last chance" event which allows you to find all the seasonal cosmetic items that appeared in the game in the shop. This is also the time for you to finalize things like making sure you've properly linked your BattleNet account to store your game data there. levels, etc. So remember to check that everything is OK before the servers close and the launch of 2!
Once the transition to Overwatch 2 is complete, the first Ovewatch will completely cease to exist (not in your heart) and it will no longer be possible to play it. By starting a new adventure in Overwatch 2.0, you will be able to discover the new heroes, namely Sojourn and the Queen of Junkers. If you played the first OW, you will also unlock Kiriko for free. Season 1 promises to be rich in content with a first limited-time event from 25/10 to 8/11 in addition to the multiple rewards to unlock with the battle pass.
