For a few years now, Polly Pocket has been attacking the wallets of families who, to avoid the capricious howls of the little girl, would be ready to pay a hundred and a thousand to have silence. Even if the good old days for Mattel are starting to have some wrinkles, we don't let go of a niche like that. So heat up the GBA and get ready for the trip to Super Splash Island.
This is for you gentlemen! A little culture, inside!
It is not given to everyone to know the magical world of Miss Polly. “So what is it? “, are you going to tell me. Polly Pocket is the basic playground game. Imagine the universe of Barbie (dolls, decorations, accessories, cars, clothes…) and transpose it to the hundredth. You get a heroine no taller than a fingernail (manicured, I assure you) in a universe that fits in your pocket… Hence the Pocket. Almost 10 years after the start of the phenomenon, which quickly took hold, Vivendi Universal Games and Knowledge Adventure have joined forces to bring us the first Polly Pocket game.
Not recommended for over 6 years old
Indeed, Polly Pocket is for the youngest of us female. Level story, it's flat. Well no, I'm not going to lie to you, there is a scenario! “Polly won tickets to Super Splash Island. So she goes to the Island. “You were perhaps looking for a real scenario? Oh no ! You got the wrong game! And the rest is the same. Polly, basically, it's a game made up of several mini-games… Well, only 6 but which offer 3 difficulties to choose from. Between bumper buoys, a descent of the rapids, shooting with water guns or crossing a river in style Frogger, the choice and the interest come close to nil. And even if the kids don't know anything about it, a simple platform game would have been nice! In fact, the Polly Pocket game only has the possibility of changing clothes by collecting bonuses during the mini-games…. On the production side, it's the bare minimum… Why do more, when you can easily appease the brats with a jacket and a license. Poor graphics with garish colors. A simple but uninteresting maneuverability which can, depending on the mini-games, be catastrophic. Repetitive music. Sounds from another age. And a lifespan whose precocity would scare our friend Rocco, even in 2-player mode.
