Overwatch 2 is here, the game is free to play from Tuesday, October 4, 2022. It will be released simultaneously on PC, PlayStation, Xbox game consoles as well as Nintendo Switch as a “free-to-play” title. It's time for you to prepare for its launch, in particular by discovering the opening time of the servers and when the "pre-download" will be available so that you can download the game files in advance on your favorite medium.
For Season 1, Blizzard teams are going big by introducing three new heroes to the game. First there is Sojourn and the Queen of the Junkers which are unlocked for all players from the start of the season and Kiriko which is to be unlocked at level 55 of the battle pass for newcomers, while those who have played the first Overwatch will unlock this third character automatically.
Those who opt for the premium version of the pass will also be able to play as the character Kiriko without having to reach level 55 of the season pass. In addition to the characters, players will be able to unlock a whole bunch of skins (mythical, legendary, epic) and discover an overhaul of the multiplayer experience, the 6v6 in particular which has been redesigned to become 5v5 battles.

When the Overwatch 2 servers open and when is it possible to download it:
If the transition from 1 to 2 goes well for the development team, Overwatch 2 will normally be available worldwide from October 4 at 21:00 p.m. While waiting for its launch, you can download it on your favorite game medium to be able to play it directly when the servers open.
PC players who own Overwatch 1 and the Observatory Bundle will be able to start downloading Overwatch 2 starting September 30 at around 22:30 p.m. via BattleNet. If the automatic update system is activated on your client, the game will download in the background. If not, you can start the update manually by clicking on the gear icon to the right of the "Play" button, then selecting the "Check for updates" option. Note that you will need 50 GB of free space to download the entire game to your PC.
For console players (Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch), things are a little more complicated…The pre-download will only be available from October 4th around 18:00 p.m. This will only give you a few hours if you are on the one of these media to download the 30 GB of data required (weight of files on the console version) and start playing when the servers open around 21:00 p.m.
