The Infinity Ward and Activision studio teams have accelerated their communication around the next big Call of Duty which is expected for October 28, 2022. Task Force 141 is back with the upcoming launch of “Modern Warfare 2”. While waiting to experience the full single-player campaign and multiplayer content, players will be able to take advantage of a temporary trial version that will be held on several dates over the next two weeks. While there will be a discrepancy in the dates set for open beta access between console and PC players, be aware that during the second free trial weekend for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, the beta will offer also the support of "cross-play", which will allow players on different platforms to play together as will be the case for the launch of the final game.

Below is a recap of the different dates you need to remember to be able to play the Call of Duty Modern Warfare II Open Beta. As always, PlayStation players will be served before the others! Similarly, early access is offered to those who pre-ordered the game digitally or physically from a third-party retailer. In any case, you will be able to start playing the CoD Modern Warfare 2 open beta as early as 19 p.m., which is the opening time of the servers for the online multiplayer trial.
- September 16-17, 2022 → Play the early access beta on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
- September 18-20, 2022 → Multiplayer is available in open beta to all players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
- September 22-23, 2022 → Play the early access beta on Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC consoles and open beta to all players on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
- September 24-26, 2022 → Anyone can play the open beta on all gaming platforms.
How do I get a code to play the Modern Warfare 2 beta early?
You'll get your early access to the Modern Warfare 2 beta simply by pre-ordering the game. If you upgrade to the digital edition on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Steam, or BattleNet, you'll automatically gain access to the beta. All you have to do is download the beta on your respective game medium and start playing when the servers open on the dates indicated above.
If you opted for the physical edition, your retailer should normally provide you with a single-use beta access code. This is a 13-digit code that you will receive by email or that will appear on your receipt. You will then have to go to the callofduty.com/betaredeem site to redeem your code, specifying your game medium.
★ Note – Until the servers are open, the Modern Warfare 2 beta will show you the following error message; “Connection failed, the connection servers are under maintenance (reason: DETRICK – GUERNSEY)”.
