Season of the Chosen is now underway in Destiny 2, bringing us a ton of new and exciting things to do. One of our main goals initially is to unlock the Legendary proof hammer which will allow you to farm Cabal Gold and unlock the new Tribute Chests.
How to unlock the Hammer of Evidence.
While you are just starting out in HELM, the main area of Season of the Chosen where you can also Focus on Umbral Engrams, you continue with the rest of the very short campaign of the new season. Finish the last Battlefield the activity the campaign throws at you, you then need to visit HELM and find the Prismatic Recaster. Playing around with it for a bit, then running a second Battlefield, will reward you with this Proof Hammer, so getting it is pretty easy as it's only a matter of time. You can unlock perks later in this area, but for now you should start farming Cabal Gold and unlock plenty of Tribute Chests.
Farm Cabal gold and unlock tribute chests.
Cabal Gold can be earned and farmed through Strikes, Gambit, Crucible, and Public Events. Mayhem matches give x8 the amount of Cabal Gold you would normally get and Vanguard Strikes rewards you with x14 the amount.
In your menu, if you choose your Proof Hammer and look at it, you can see how much gold you have accumulated (at first it will show 0/42). By right-clicking on the hammer, you will be able to see its supports, where you can insert medallions to upgrade it, and this process takes Cabal Gold. That's why you have to cultivate for it for a while.
Now comes the fun part. Starting the new Battleground Activities and defeating the final boss will reward you with 3 Tribute Chests. From these chests, you can use your hammer to choose one and claim its contents. Each time your hammer breaks a chest, it gains a certain charge. These charges can be used as completion materials for focusing Umbral Engrams, via Prismatic Rework.
Rinse and repeat all of the above, and you pretty much have the Season of the Chosen gameplay loop right there. That doesn't sound that exciting, but considering the many things you can find in this season, alongside everything we could already be doing, I'd say Destiny 2 is in a pretty good place right now. Besides, in the end, it's just a looter-shooter in the wild.
Season of the Chosen currently lives Destiny 2.
