Supercell presents the new Clash Royale game mode: Touchdown. A simple mode, but terribly effective!
[Updated October 9] Touchdown mode is now available in 2v2 in the Clash Royale tournament menu!
Despite the arrival of the 2v2 mode in early summer, Clash Royale seems to be on the wane lately and with the intensive beta phase of Brawl Stars, we were entitled to wonder if SuperCell was going to do something to revive the interest of his game. The answer is yes, with the arrival of the mode Touchdown, from the next patch.
Touchdown mode is simple but effective. Take a Clash Royale arena, remove the towers and the river and voila. The object of the game is to send one of your units to the edge of the opposing screen.
You use an 8-card deck that you put together during a draft before each game. All cards are allowed in the draft. When a unit is placed, it progresses from bottom to top in a straight line, unless it crosses an opponent in which case it will attack it. As soon as a unit arrives behind enemy lines, you win a crown and the map is cleaned. The winner is the one who accumulates 3 crowns or has the most crowns in 3 minutes.
Units can be played from the end of the field to the first third of the field. Building cards can only be placed on the first third of the terrain. Spells causing units to appear (the graveyard, for example) cannot be cast beyond the central part of the terrain. All other spells can be used anywhere in the arena.
So that you can get a better idea, here is a summary:
Red line : If one of your units crosses it, you gain a crown Red zone : You can play your spells there to spawn units Blue zone: You can place your units and buildings there Yellow line: If an opponent crosses it, he wins a crown Black area: You can place your units there |
This new game mode will be available in the next patch, during the month of October.
