While we all know how Vegeta's story unfolds, the rivalry between him and Goku is still one of the best the series has to offer and it all goes back to their first fight. After Vegeta eliminates Nappa himself after losing to Goku, it's time for you to take on Vegeta yourself as Goku. Although the last fights weren't that difficult after Raditz's, Vegeta definitely put up a good fight in his first battle against Goku.
How to beat Vegeta as Goku
You know, Vegeta is going to be a formidable enemy here, especially with how he made it so easy to work with Nappa. Not only is he fast and aggressive when trying to take you out, he also has a number of powerful super attacks to use on you that are sure to give you a hard time.
First and foremost, Vegeta has his patented Galick pistol that people know best about him at this point in the story. This beam attack can take a little while to complete, giving you a second to try to dodge, so try your best to avoid it if you can while dodging. Vegeta also has Consecutive Energy Shot and Dash Wave, both of which fire ki blasts at him in different ways, with the best method being dodging left and right with X on PS4 if you can.
He has a lot more than just his ki-based super attacks, as the other four he has are melee-based. Dash Attack charges it directly at you if you're close enough and dealing damage. Assault Rush is similar, though it comes in with a barrage of hits at once before knocking you back. Body Punch moves fast and manages to stun Goku, so you really want to try and avoid this one as it gives you the chance to get hit by his other attacks like Galick Gun right after. Meteor Hammer is a powerful attack that he tends to use as a follow up to the rest, so that's also something to watch out for, especially if you're vulnerable.
This is also the first fight in which you are introduced to transformations, Kaioken in particular at this point. It can give Goku a big hit of damage and more, but it comes at the cost of it, gradually reducing your health and ki meters, so be careful not to overuse it.
As with other tougher fights, don't be afraid to use whatever Vitadrink you have. You should learn to store them when you run out because they can save your life. Also using Vanish Attack when you get the chance is a really good idea, as well as backing off when you notice Vegeta is red as he will try to unleash a stun attack on you. If you keep attacking and dodging his strongest attacks, you should beat him eventually.
