Both happen to be part of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, as you have relationships with characters in the game and can level them up with the use of gifts. How to get gifts
Gifts are fairly common in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, with two main methods of obtaining them that will have you rolling in the gifts that you can then use. The first way to get in-game gifts is to look all around the map as you explore each area.
Objects are all around the map, you don't know what they will be until you interact with them. The key here is to keep looking and trying to collect as much as possible. Even though they are not gifts, the items you find can be useful for cooking or many other areas that can be very useful to you in the game.
The other way to get freebies in the game is by doing completely different quests in the game, especially the sub-quests. These sub-quests are highlighted with the blue exclamation marks on the map and serve as the in-game version of the side quests. These usually have you interacting with a character who sends you on a mission. At the end of the mission, you can receive different items, including gifts.
Freebies aren't something you constantly have to grind to find, but they're definitely worth keeping an eye out for while playing and definitely using them when you start to find more.
