World of Warcraft Shadowlands - How to Earn Great Vault Rewards

le Great vault in World of Warcraft Shadowlands provides a guaranteed share of endgame loot to those who attack, clear Mythic+, and/or participate in ranked PvP. There's a little more nuance to the Grand Vault than you might think, and the difficulty of the content you've cleared will determine the quality of your reward.

Complete Raid Encounters, Mythic+ Races, and earn Honor in PvP in Shadowlands to access Great Vault loot.

In Oribos, in the Hall of Holding, is the large vault, and you'll notice a few quests from nearby NPCs. None of these are required to access the Grand Vault, but you can get Legendary Power by clearing the base quest “gain a piece of loot from the Vault”, so pick at least one .

Interacting with the Shadowlands Large Vault will bring up its interface, and you'll notice that there are three categories with three tasks each. The three categories are simple: Raids, Mythic Dungeons, and PvP (Rated) – pretty much every major co-op endgame activity that's been around for a while.

There are three tasks per category, and none of them are complex. They are:

  • Raid - Complete Raid Bosses 3/7/10
  • Mythic - Complete Mythic Keystone Dungeons 1/4/10
  • PvP – Earn 1250/2500/6250 honor from rated PvP

As long as you complete one of these tasks, you will receive a piece of endgame loot after the weekly reset. There is a bit of nuance here, as I mentioned earlier. First of all, the more tasks you complete, the more loot you will have to choose from after the reset. You can only choose one item, but you'll have a better chance of plugging a hole in your current loadout.

Second, the quality of loot is determined by the difficulty of the event you completed. For example: Clearing three Raid Bosses on Normal will provide loot at the same item level as Raid Normal (200 as of release). Going to kill 7 bosses on Heroic will then increase the level of the item. Additionally, you can overwrite previous attempts, so if you continue to do a full clear on Mythic difficulty, your loot will increase accordingly.

For Mythic Dungeons, your top ten key dungeons will be used, specifically the 10th, 4th, and 1st. You can keep running Keystone dungeons to increase the item level of loot awarded by the Great Chest. Rated PvP is even easier: all rewards are based on your highest Slice win of the week. You can even track your Great Vault rewards in PvP through the Group Finder.

So if you're playing Shadowlands casually, you can still get one item per week through the Great Vault, and hardcore endgame players can use it to fill gaps in their loadout if RNG and loot don't match. are not taking place this week. It's a useful system for all players, but you'll need to engage with the cooperative side of the endgame to take advantage of it.
